In 20 minutes we’ll all pile into our trusty little cranberry van and drive the long highway to the City of Lost Angels. Who is credited for coming up with that poetic name? I’ll have to do some research on that.

The Bimhuis is a world famous jazz club that was founded in the early 70’s. Many jazz legends played there including Charlie Mingus and Chet Baker, who died in Amsterdam. The club was originally located in the historic quarters but recently moved into the Muziekgebouw complex. The stage is on floor level and the audience surrounds the stage. Very intimate setting. Amazing show there, great audience … and an surreal way to emerge from my toxic stupor.
Sadly, we left for the airport early in the morning and once again, I was in Amsterdam and didn’t get to “have it”. I’ll add it to that ever elongating list of places in Europe I need to revisit in the future.
